If you regularly use OpenVPN you will probably have had the issue where you get the following error message:
unable to load VPN network connection editor
I have had the same problem and basically what is happening is when I am attempting to add an OpenVPN connection, I am not able to state what type of VPN you’re using.
I already had openvpn and network-manager-openvpn installed via apt, but I also need to add network-manager-openvpn-gnome and this can be done with the following command via terminal.
sudo apt install network-manager-openvpn-gnome
Once installed you will have to restart the network manager service which effectively kills all networking until the network manager is fully restarted. This can be done with:
sudo service network-manager restart
Once the service is fully restarted you will be able to open system settings again then go to networking and you should now be able to add the OpenVPN security certificate.
